This Chelsea garden, sponsored by Worcester, Bosch Group demonstrates that with thought we can work with nature, storing its abundant energy for all of our benefits and for the future of our planet. By presenting green technology in different and perhaps surprising ways within the urban garden, this solution shows that science and nature can blend and work together without clashing aesthetically.
Power of Nature
The design depicts the 4 elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water. The main planting palette using muted greens/whites/creams and plants with a delicate frothy appearance depicting the element of 'Air' including Calamagrostis x acutiflora 'Karl Foerster' Digitalis purpurea 'Alba' and Geranium sylvaticum 'Alba'. This contrasted with a streak of deep blue Salvia nemorosa 'Caradonna' and scarlet Geum 'Mrs Bradshaw' which flashes through representing the flow of free energy through the garden. A large bowl richly planted represented the element 'Fire' using Ophiopogon planiscapus 'Nigrescens' Foeniculum vulgare 'Giant Bronze' Geum 'Mrs Bradshaw' and Euphorbia griffithii 'Fireglow'.
